Why I’m Running

Like you, I am a proud Texan and proud of the community we have here in Dallas. We are a city of vitality, growth, optimism, and development.

But that doesn’t mean it can’t be better. We have the highest percentage of uninsured and undereducated children. There are senior citizens who are leaving their homes because property taxes that are so high. We must do more for ALL who call this city home.

As your next Mayor of Dallas, I plan to EMPOWER OUR COMMUNITY. I am ready to do the hard work, bridge the growing partisan divides, and make it happen.

My record in the Texas Legislature is clear. I know how to get things done. When our children were in danger in their schools, I wrote a bill to protect them that is now the model of the Nation. When our highways were unsafe because of drunk drivers, I wrote a bill that has already saved thousands of Texans lives. When our public schools were underfunded, I authored legislation to place over $5 billion dollars back into our schools. I GET THINGS DONE. And that’s exactly what I plan to do as your next mayor.

From the moment I take the oath of office until my last day in office, I will have a singular mission: ensure that Dallas is the best place in the country to raise a family, find high-wage, rewarding employment and build a dynamic, rewarding future for the next generation.

I am a lifelong Dallas resident, but this city is more to me than just where I’m from and where I live — it’s a part of who I am as a person. Just like a member of my family, Dallas has been there for me and provided opportunities for me throughout my life. I know that the power of our community is undeniable and life changing. Together, we can harness that power to get big things done.
